Harvest 2023:
analysis of a vibrant vintage

45 days, 1,080 hours, 64,800 minutes

These are the numbers of our recently concluded 2023 harvest.
It began in our vineyards on 30 August, and ended on 13 October.
A vibrant, exciting harvest, full of challenges to manage, but rewarding in terms of the quality of the grapes harvested.

Let us analyse the seasonal trend:

The vintage was characterised by a regular winter, with cold temperatures and limited rainfall, in line with previous seasons.

Subsequently, at the vegetative awakening, we witnessed a sudden climatic change with rapidly rising temperatures from the first weeks of spring; a scenario that continued until the onset of summer, bringing with it an important acceleration in the vegetative growth of the plant.
The summer represented the most critical period of the entire season, with alternating high temperatures and substantial rainfall, heavily concentrated in the months of June and July.
This combination put a strain on the phytosanitary management of our vineyards and led to a delay of about 14 days in the ripening of the grapes compared to the previous year.

Beginning in September, the harvest was very intense, with the white grapes showing very close ripening curves, leading to a concentration of work in the first two weeks of the harvest.
The weather pattern was regular, with no sudden changes in temperature, allowing the red grapes to be harvested by the first half of October.

This was one of the most complex and challenging years in recent years, with alternating periods of heavy rainfall and periods characterised by intense heat, professionally managed by our team and rewarded by a high level of quality in the grapes harvested.
